Seeing through objects is a technique as well and it consumes chakra, so probably by closing their eyes they can't use X-Ray vision too.

But how does that make sense? The only reason Sharingan and Rennigan techs don't work when the eyes are closed is because there is nothing for the eye to see, hence no jutsus can be used [including auto ones like precog], and no chakra is wasted. Byakugan would be able to see through the eye lids, and closing the eyes should not affect this ability because by nature itself, Byakugan is diffrent than the other two eyes.

Just a few points

1st - You sound like a dumbass

2nd- You probably are

3rd- Byakugans don't deactivate when the user blinks or closes their eyes. The user can still see all around them in a near 360 manner minus their blind spot. And it would be stupid if it deactivate all the time every time they blinked. Sharingan's don't deactivate either in the blink phase. Kakashi and Sasuke closed their eyes to reduce the chakra the eye is using for precognition and analyses. Although it still uses chakra even when they close their eyes, it's just that it uses a lot less.

Nice fanfic, but I want mangafacts. If closing their eyes doesn't allow chakra flowing to eyes in order to use an ocular technique, so it probably doesn't allow Byakugan to see through things as well when the eyes are closed, because it's an ocular technique too and requires chakra to work. And you are saying that closing the eyes didn't stop Sasuke and Kakashi from wasting chakra, so does it mean that Kakashi was always wasting chakra since he couldn't shut off sharingan? I wonder how he had enough chakra to fight since he was always losing it... And blink =/= close permanently.
