Does the aura from ribcage susanoo protect people too?

In ribcage form, there are openings where there are no bones or ribcages but there is still an aura in those gaps. Are those gaps able to protect the user as well from weaker attacks? Are those gaps as good as the ribcage itself? If a kunai is thrown in one of those gaps, will it go through like theres nothing there or will the aura stop the kunai?

The aura is actually the manifestation of spiritual energy remember the uchiha is an yin oriented clan, susano represents their spiritual strength so the aura is just spiritual energy the aura itself could or could not prevent attacks but it may disrupt if anything.
