Does Naruto have to be alive to recieve yin kurama

Everybody keeps trying to keep Naruto alive before they get to Minato which leaves me wondering that maybe Naruto has to be alive for the transfer to work. If he doesn't then sakura wouldn't need to be giving him CPR and pumping his heart. They could just chill until they get to Minato which they're not.

Normally yes, Minato notwithstanding. This is why the bijuu are so adimant about protecting their Jinchuriki regardless of whether or not they get along. If the host dies so too does the bijuu or at least until their chakra personified bodies reconstitute. So yes the host needs to be alive.....

Nah. Gaara was dead and got chakra from the old woman (whose name escapes me and it is 4AM local time). Edo Tensei are reanimated even though they are dead. Just the same as DnD, the dead spirits can be recalled. I think Naruto isn't dead yet. What the fans have wrong is this...

It isn't Naruto that is dying. It's Kurama that is dying by being assimilated into the Juubs.
