It's 99% likely that Sasuke can create Kirin with his chakra alone, however, it would take a massive amount, which means in a drawn out battle, it would be more efficient to use natural lightning created by heating the atmosphere.

There's no denying that he was going to use it on Team 7 in Oro's hideout. It's painfully obvious.

Yes, if the sky has some clouds in it then that's more fuel for kirin, more clouds=More power. Even in the second scan there were some clouds, worst case scenario is that there are a lot of thunderclouds, a few was enough for kirin to be mountain busting.

I agree and for along time and still now people claim sasuke wasn't...

but I disagree about needing a lot of charka

kirin requires zero to no charka, to my knowledge

may have been some clouds but lets not forget

the theory was kirin needed to be prep by using a powerful katon ninjutsu

also the first time sasuke displayed kirin arnt exactly the same conditions.

Gtfo with your threats. I only asked a question. **** me.

If there's no thunderclouds. There obviously has to be some other sort of fuel.

It requires little to no chakra because it's using natural lightning instead of chakra generated lightning. If it were created without natural lighting, chakra would have to replace the natural lightning, and that much lightning would take a massive amount of chakra.

It likely uses alot of his chakra. So instead he used other jutsu to create the perfect environment so the lightning is already there, he just needs to control it and guide it. Vs team 7 he was healthy and had all the chakra needed.

forgive me if im missing something but.

but why does it need to be created? shouldn't the little charka draw out the lighting?

From where...? That's how normal Kirin works with the thundercloud prep. Without clouds and a storm, there is no lightning to draw out, so he would need to create it himself.

so the clouds above sasuke at orochimaru hideout where thunderclouds? there was a storm above them as well?

and they were enough to use kirin?

"Sasuke draws natural lightning directly from thunder clouds to supplement the power of his strike and controls it with chakra. Unlike most techniques, which are based on the user's chakra, this one uses the natural lightning, which — as noted by Zetsu — reaches the ground in 1/1000th of a second. However, the preparation time required also decreases the technique's efficiency. If there are no active thunder clouds, the user must create them by using powerful fire techniques to produce the necessary storm conditions. With techniques such as Amaterasu, even stronger storm conditions can be made by them. Also, with Amaterasu's inability to be extinguished by water, it can be used to continuously create new thunder clouds to use Kirin once again; however, the process seems to require a bit of time.

Once a lightning source has been acquired, shaping and guiding the lightning to the target requires very little chakra. In addition, usage seems to disperse the thunder clouds as the sky cleared up of clouds after use. As such, this technique can only be used once in a fight."

TL;DR: No. Even if he did. It'd be shitty. He may as well use regular chidori.

Not all clouds can create lightning. Why else would he ever need to prep? The cycle of rain only means there will be a cloudless day like twice a month.

He needs the storm which is created with his Katon prep. Otherwise, he must create Kirin with standard Raiton chakra.

Try re-reading and looking at the sky behind Sasuke.
