Does Itachi's Izanami work on Top characters?

You can not create izanami on character like that because they are too strong in chakra that even if they were hit they will break out in second.

Even there is a weakness in Izanami that user can get out of it by realize it was not the path they choose, just like keep fighting will continue trigger the loop. Those that you have mentioned are high end character and they had their own sense in high end battle, when thing goes wrong they will know what to do next.

If he can, say come up with a sequence that doesn't include physical exchanges, then Yes he will get them inside it only if the conditions are met... Because he would be dead after the first exchange otherwise.

I think izanami cannot defeat osotsukis because it just a genjutsu and if one of them know how to break it, itachi will defeat.

Genjutsu yses chakra to affect your senses. That literally the basus for ALL genjutsu.


Izanami takes to long anyway, he'd be dead by then.

Although I think he could come out a winner against momo or kinshiki in a solo fight. Not both fused tho.

But I know that Izanami is ill advised.

Izanami doesn't work that way, it's not a technique that works on everyone. The target has to be inside an inner conflict about not acknowledging who they are. Anyone who is at peace would instantly escape Izanami since the point of it is basically missing.
