Does Itachi know this?

Did Itachi really think Tobi was Madara when he was informing Sasuke about him? I mean, I thought Itachi was a smart enough guy to speculate that Tobi may not be Madara, but he could have told Sasuke he was Madara on purpose. Do you guys think Itachi really knew who Tobi was, and if he had any purpose in telling Sasuke otherwise?

didnt tobi show itachi his real face? perhaps itachi was using madara instead of stating who he really was maybe because it was someone itachi feared more then madara or maybe it was safer for people to think it was mdara =)
