Quite frankly it doesnt bother me and i dont see how it could bother someone else.

But you do have different people speaking out on it.

Like for instance if a white guy were to get dreads or wear clothes in a fashion that a black guy does, you'd have people calling him a "Wigga"

or if a black guy has pretty nice credit, good finance, and portrays a lifestyle similar to how people stereotype a white man he's called "A Uncle Tom"
These are a few people whose been accused of it

For those who dont quite understand what Cultural appropriation is.

"Cultural appropriation is the adoption or use of elements of one culture by members of a different culture."

The real problem is the stereotypes. If someone who's Black wants to do what they want in their life, their color shouldn't be based off of it...

I don't care about it. There exists no culture in this world untouched or not influenced by another.

If a black american wants to live culturally like Chinese people then that's their problem, it has nothing to do with me and I am not bothered by it.

It doesn't bother me, but I don't think it's right. I don't think white people wearing dreads or having big lips is cultural appropriation either. I don't think what Beyonce was doing was cultural appropriation either, and seemed more like celebrating/appreciating the Indian culture.

Beyonce was celebrating Idian culture. Kylie Jenner and Justin Beiber have a tendency to outright steal cultural quirks and then make them a trend without crediting the roots of the culture. Being into another's culture is one thing, like an American can be into Japanese culture like manga and anime, but if America started producing their own manga and anime and popularizing it to the point that it's an "American thing", not a 'Japanese thing", that would be cultural appropriation, the kind that bothers me.

Beyoncé still looks great, I would love to see Indian clothing worn by all races. :pwease: The sparkles are on another level.

The Last Airbender clearly denotes Eastern heritage. A great deal of animators from the show were actually Japanese and a large part of the creative board were of Asian decent. It can hardly be consider appropriation when it's their culture that their referencing. Yeah, they were broadcasting to a Western audience, but the culture isn't lost. The Boondocks creator didn't mimic Japanese anime from a dominate point either.
Being from a dominant culture and cherry-picking aspects of a minor culture and exploding the popularity of it for appeal is what's wrong with cultural appropriation. There being a few Japanese style Cartoons in America doesn't represent the affect.

I'd like to hear some examples, then. Perhaps some that have happened and are not simply analogies.

No, it does not bother me and don't think it can really bother anyone else.

People can do whatever they want, as long as they don't harm anyone else. And taking some stuff (for example the looks) of a different culture does not harm anyone, lol. As it was said earlier in this thread that the stereotypes are the problem. I agree with that.

We must not think "Oh, X is what blacks do", "Oh, Y is what whites do", "Oh, Z is what Indians do" etc.

It bothers me when credit is not given to the culture. That is annoying.

I did not even know this was a thing. Needless to say, it doesn't bother me. All I've learned from this is that Mother and I really have cornered off the world to just white pine bay. Perhaps we should learn more about the world, but perhaps not as it is already very annoying and stressful.

The only time someone should be offended is if one claims that they made the fashion choice or music or whatever. Or if it's meant to be disrespectful.

Some people just like other cultures. Nothing wrong with that.

The white guy with the dreds does not work, considering dredlocks were popularized in ancient Greek culture, aka the white guys.

Other than that, no, this whole issue of cultural appropriation is silly. Limiting yourself to only one culture is even sillier, especially when you later figure out what you were into in the past was actually part of a different nationality ;) So just take it easy and love what you want to love.

Except furries, furries can go rot.

When you make fun/take credit for it. Or get praised for doing whatever but the people who started it gets no acknowledgement for it. Than I have a issue.
