AGoodBoy was stating that the outer paths might not play by the same rules as the inner path techniques. As in summoning the gedo Mazo and so on belongs to the outer path technique which may only need one eye. At least I think that was the argument.

It is. It's the most secretive technique that the Rinnegan offers.

You need both. Rinne tensei is an outer path ability. Like susano'o, which needs both eyes, some of the rinnegan abilities would need both. The passive abilities -- linked vision, Chakra visualization -- should all be there while the user would most likely be able to use only half of the path abiltiies. In any case, for all we know, Obito implanted both rinnegan and the right one combined with his MS allowing him to keep his MS active or something... Something like how you get EMS by implanting brother's eye in yours/your eye socket.

1-Obito only has 1 rinnegan, but he can use rinne tensei.
2-There is no evidence of this. There's nothing to support that an MS can merge with rinnegan. I think the only way to keep MS and EMS abilities and to have rinnegan is obtaining rinnegan the way madara did. If obito had transplanted it, it's likely that the rinnega would have prevailed, as the rinnegan is more "evolved"

1 - That's what i said Rinne tensei is an outer path ability. The rinnegan holder can use it freely whereas paths are usually needed for the other techs (see nagato). Unless they're an edo, then they seem to be able to do it themself (see madara using deva and preta, and nagato using all)
2 - I said "for all we know" as in it's a baseless assumption -_-... If he did implant it with his MS i'd think he could probably switch between them at will since now he has the MS eye and the Rinnegan eye, whereas all nagato had was an activated Rinnegan that lay latent in his head. There's something fishy going on, because let's remember that kakashi can't deactivate Sharingan (because that's how he got it), but nagato apparently can't deactivate his rinnegan because that's how he got it, yet he had normal eyes before, as if he had an eye stacked on another eye. The reason i'm saying such a radical theory is because of that one scan of sasuke when it literally showed

as if sasuke's eye stacked ontop of Itachi's. Maybe obito's MS stacked onto the RInnegan... It's still just an assumption, because it seems silly he'd forgo 2 rinnegan just to have kamui.

Omg that was seperate points. I wasn't saying he needed 2 eyes for outer path... you're the second person to bring this up.
