Does anybody know a book where the bad guy won?

Im looking for a book were the bad guy ultimately wins and theres nothing anybody can do about it does anyone here know any? or where the main character is the bad guy kinda like artemis fowl was in the first of his books.....

I cannot think of anything. Star Wars might have some minor ones, with Jango Fett or Maul.

But, no, I can't think of one.

Novels such as The Talented Mr Ripley, American Psycho and The Usual Suspects have Bad guys that win.

In Greek Mythology villains win all the time.

If you're still not happy with those then just read the Newspaper, good guys never win.

Also the character of Des Tiny from the Saga of Darren Shan doesn't really get any repercussions at all, although he is tricked in the final book- he basically still gets his own way.

True, but I can't see anyone really saying Near/Mello/L/Police were the bad guys.

Same goes for Light in some sense (I like Light alot, but hated when he screwed Misa over that one girl), but he lost in the end.

The genre/type your asking for, is I think called 'Satire' (search under that?)...well, you could say the villian wins, but its more of, no one is saved/the hero fails.
An example is Brave New World...but I don't reccomend that book...it was...depressing. o.o

But yeah...I can't think of one right now. But I always wish for a book were that happens. Not because I hate good guys or anything, but them always winning is so predictable. Just for once, it would be a nice plot turn if they didn't.​

I don´t know books but i´ve seen 2 movies in which the antagonist wins, the first time i saw it, i wasn´t expecting it at all, i was very surprised that the movie was over, i was so sure it would continue just cuz the good guys haven´t won "yet".

unless it is mythology, the odds of finding a novel where the antagonist "wins" is slim.

stories are meant for the protagonist to overcome challenges, and defeat their "evil" opponents.

watchmen the good guys actually won ozymandias was a good guy sorta like nagato and he succeeded he had the right idea but wrong way of doing it but all was good at the end.
