Does anybody else wish that relation between Kakashi and Sasuke was emphasised?

Knowing the sad life that Kakashi has lived riddled with failures (his words, not mine) and regrets, I thought that he would have tried more to keep Sasuke from going down the same path that he did. But after the war, I can still see Sasuke having regrets for leaving Konoha and killing Itachi. Does anyone else wish that the relationship between them was emphasised on more?
