does any other hero come close to jiraiya in power?

if you remember back to the fight with jiraiya and pein. it took him in hermit to fight pein. so he had the 2 elder toads come help him. he retreated, thought of their weaknesses, came back and killed them.

but when you look at kakashi. later in the fight he had chouji and chouji's father and some random(whatever) ninja come to help him. so kakashi had more help than jiraiya did. kakashi,chouji,chouji's dad retreated like jiraiya in the latest manga, came up with a stradegy. and almost killed "1" body of pein. but failed and another pein intentionally took the chidori. so even kakashi with several chuunin and jounin by his side can't even "intentionally" bring 1 body down, by jiraiya ended up killing (in the long run) 4 bodies.

im not sure about tsunade but. theres nobody alive in my opinion, that could come even close to killing pein like jiraiya did. when it comes down to the good hero's in naruto(besides 4th hokage), jiraiya is "hands down!" the strongest, no contest.

Alive or dead?
There's plenty of dead ninja that could handle Pein in a second, but as far as living ninja....
I think Kisame would be a pretty safe bet, Along with Madara.
Other then them, I really can't think of anyone else that can give Pein the fight that Jiraiya did.

i think orochimaru was one of the strongest shinobi alive only reson sasuke got him was because his body was failing and sasukes eyes winns aginst genjutsu any day of the week... remember oro fighting naruto in 4 tailed mode and barly even trying!!! orochimaru could kill pein IMO because hes so good at defensive / avoiding stuff i think he could stay alive fighting pein long enuf to find his weakness and kill him...

I have to give it up to Jiraiya he did his best n got defeated. On that note Pain Is pretty strong he beat one of the sanin. Orochimaru was also an akutsuki member, i can only asume that Pain was the leader then 2, i doubt Tsunade can even make an attempt to kill atleast 2 Pains. All of the Akutsuki members are strong but they are under the command of Pain...these are all evil guys with tremendous power n Pain commands them with full authority, which means non of them could defeat him or they would challenge him for leadership. They dnt even try to gang up on him n kill him. Madara is the only person Pain takes orders from, therefore Madara is the only one that could actually kill Pain in my opinion.

You just know I have to bring up the 3rd hokage

Kishi himself said that, in his prime, the 3rd was equal to the 4th in strength, in his prime.

So basically, the 3rd was equal to the 4th, and basically equal to Jiraiya.


The fact that the 3rd took on Orochimaru, the 1st, and the 2nd all at once, and even overcame them when he was a frail old man, with Enma the Monkey King commenting that the third's performance was "pathetic" compared to him in his prime proves that the 3rd was a truely powerful ninja.

He fought on par with a sannin and two hokages when he was old and frail.

(I'd also like to point out that the 1st and 2nd were not holding back. They were just as powerful as they were during their lives.)


If that was pathetic, imagine the 3rd in his prime. He could probably take all three sannin, the 1st, and the 2nd all at once. Imagine the damage he'd do to Pein.

I don't know about him taking all of them at once, considering Jiryah was considerably powerfull, but being equal or even slightly more powerfull wouldn't be suprising.

See the problem here isnt the power a shinobi holds, its the certain techniques they have.

Both tsunade and Jiraiya are sannin but Jiraiya is vastly more effective at killing pain because he has techniques that are useful against pain.

Like ive said before, narutos rasenshuriken can be dodged easily, and his dad could simply teleport behind him and kill him with a standard rasengan

Just because a jutsu is stronger doesnt mean thats the strongest ninja.

Its a mix of many things

heres a list and can easily be added onto

1.Smarts, figuring out enemies weaknesses
2.Learning as many elemental recompositions as possible
3.Having both short range and long range attacks
4.Having certain defences for undodgable jutsus
5.Speed
6.Ability to at least defend against genjutsu
7.Cast genjutsu
8.Summons


And with all these 8 there can be difficulties.

Good ninjas right now on Jiraiyas level that are alive...No, don't exist, Kakashi is the next one down that we know of in the manga, unless kishi introduces someone else then no, the next one along is kakashi.

Its not that i doubt tsunade, i think tsunade is stronger than kakashi, but kakashi would be better at defeating pain because tsunades entire moveset is taijutsu and healing, she appears to have NO attacking ninjutsu and NO genjutsu.

And i think we can all agree that pains one true strength is that taijutsu simply doesnt get him, he has so many fields of vision and is so fast itd be pointless

tsunade in the end would be running about wasting chakra making earthquakes and smashing up architecture.

Sakura is technically "stronger" than kakashi but as he pointed out "Its pointless if you cant land a hit though"

Kakashi has the smarts and the skills (unlike shikamaru) to get real close and personal with pain.

Also kakashi made a different plan when the other ninja showed up, he did have another plan hence "I did plan something, but im glad you turned up, it means i can save my chakra"

Also kakashis MS is pretty formiddable @_@

I dont see God Realm Pain letting them escape, the only way them ninja are gonna survive is killing him (even if only temporary) or simply deactivating the body somehow.

Also may i say i hate the character shikamaru, hes just useless, yeah hes smart but all he does is stupid shadow attacks which simply do the same thing pretty much

Yea, to me, Kakashi is the strongest good ninja alive.
Well, actually, if I was sure he still had his powers, I would say Garaa instead of Kakashi.

Gaara is strong, however Gaara is all physical, get him under genjutu, he cant block that stuff with his sand, and where hes an insomniac (or used to be anyway) im sure gaining control of his brain is DEAD easy.

Gaara does have some major weaknesses.

This is why kakashi is so strong, he can do all 3, and all 3 to very high levels, he knows 4 elements, he knows over 1000 techniques, and can perform strong decent genjutsu.

Gaara is simply just an overpowered sand *****, thats his ONLY talent.

Dont get me wrong i love the character, he was my favourite in the 1st season of the anime even when he was bad, he was so cool.

But meh, hes a bit of a one trick pony.
