Kankuro is not an explosive nor colorful guy yet he is one of my favorite character's whom I consider very cool especially during this war arc when he took such charge over hi unit.

Hmm... A character's strength and his coolness are linked. If Kishi makes a strong character, chances are he's going to be "cool" in some way or another. Itachi's cool is not the same as Orochimaru's cool but they're both cool.
Naruto is cool in his own way like how Kisame is cool in his own way.
