GAN!
CHIDORI! The
hallmark jutsu
clash in the
Naruto series in
any and every
fight between
rivals Naruto and
Sasuke. The one
fans have enjoyed countless times around the world in
the anime, in the manga, and in developer
CyberConnect2′s first 3D Naruto outing, Naruto:
Ultimate Ninja Storm.
Since then in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2
and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm
Generations, however, jutsu clashes have been taken
out. Why? At the 2012 New York Comic Con,
CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama confirmed they
were taken out in order to make online a bit more
smoother. But, and that’s a big but, Matsuyama-san
continues on to say CyberConnect2 will think about
adding it back in for Naruto Storm 3 if we the fans want
it back in.
Do you, the fans, want jutsu clashes in Naruto
Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3?
First for those that missed out on Storm 1 – jutsu
clashes are button sequences that activate when two
characters jutsus meet. To put more precisely, if Naruto
launches Rasengan and Sasuke launches Chidori and
the two attacks meet at the same time, then players
must mash the Circle button (PS3) as fast as they can.
The one who can hit it more times in a shorter time
span wins, inflicting damage on the opponent. In the
video below you can see jutsu clashes between Naruto
and Sasuke, Kiba and Sasuke, as well as Kakashi and
Guy.
Saiyan Island agrees with Matsuyama-san, jutsu
clashes most definitely slow down the game. It’s very
possible there could be some online intricacies in the
back end infrastructure that may cause lag, but the
more obvious viewpoint is that it would briefly stop the
free battle. As you note in the video above, time is
ticking.
At the same time, we at Saiyan Island find it quite
enjoyable. Although it stops battle, it’s a change in the
gameplay, adding a bit of extra depth. It’s also very
satisfying to successfully pull off a jutsu clash, at least
if you are the winner.
As you can see, we’re torn. We know some people love
jutsu clashes and others hate it. Our recommendation
would be to make it OPTIONAL so everybody is happy.
In other words, when a player goes to play Naruto
Storm 3 online, they should be given the choice to turn
jutsu clashes on or off. Similar to the way voice chat
can be turned on or off. That way everybody wins!
Now, we wouldn’t keep jutsu clash the exact same as
Storm 1 because there are turbo controllers out there
that will give some players an unfair advantage. What
we do recommend is randomizing the buttons that need
to be mashed, similar to Storm 1′s ultimate jutsus.
Sometimes Triangle has to be pressed, sometimes
Square, etc. It’s never the same so both players have
equal opportunity to win a clash. Below is an example
of the random button sequences.
So with all that said, again, do you want jutsu clashes in
Naruto Storm 3? Let CyberConnect2 know at http://
. You can
submit a link to this article if you totally agree with us or
type in and send in your variation of jutsu clashes!
