If you haven't noticed, after ninja in Konoha reach Jonin level, they get little to no power-ups (everyone except Kakashi and Minato, that is). I mean, seriously. Sasuke is NOTHING without that Sharingan. He is lucky with each battle and wouldn't have survived the fight vs. Deidara if it hadn't been for Orochimaru and his summons. So, no, Sasuke wouldn't have been stronger. He probably would be smarter in battle though.

Yes, Sasuke would have been as strong. Kakashi is by all accounts a Kage level ninja, able to go toe to toe with some of the strongest ninjas around and even a Bijuu. So Sasuke sticking around to learn from him would have definitely made him strong. And since Itachi had already come up with another plan for how Sasuke would gain MS and EMS with his death, Sasuke would have still manage to gain them.

Firstly, Sasuke wanted to gain power, yes, but NOT for the sake of purposely betraying the village and having the intention to destroy it. He followed Orochimaru because he thought Orochimaru could give him the power to defeat Uchiha Itachi. After Realizing that Orochimaru used him to do his bidding, He killed Orochimaru. Then After, he killed Uchiha Itachi. Thinking Itachi deserves it because he PURPOSELY killed the entire (well, almost entire) Uchiha clan. Soon, he heard news that Uchiha Itachi was ORDERED to Kill the Uchiha clan. So now, Sasuke is searching for the one who ordered Itachi to kill the Uchihas, killing anyone that gets in his way without hesitation. Get the story now ?
