He probably couldnt have done it anyway. Multy Shadow Clone Jutsu was forbidden because it takes tons of chakra. Naruto's chakra level is huge, so he was simply lucky. Any other jutsu from that scroll might have killed him

If not killed him it would have atleast been impossible to learn at the time with his limited knowledge of chakra control
