Here is my theory-

The uchiha and senji are direct decindents of the six paths(i believe). Madara took some of the first hokage's cells during the fight which allowed him to awaken the rinnigon. The Uzumaki clan are related to the senji, because mito uzumaki married into the clan, so when Madara(or tobi) gave Nagoto the rinnigon he was able to use it well because of his bloodlone to the senji. I think Tobi in a way is Madara which would mean that he has senji and uchiha blood.

so what do you think?

I think tobi just gave nagato a sharingan eye and because nagato has some senju/uzumaki blood, then he awakened rinnegan

This has been made like.... 1000000000times and that 'theory' is partly true, sages sons ARE uchihas and senjus ancestors, i think nagato awakened em, tobi is liar.

Welcome.

I don't know, could be. But I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone's theories/opinions until proven otherwise. Also, you got a few spelling errors.

There's plenty of debates about this topic already on the forums.

It's likely that Nagato's eyes were implanted, especially since Tobi claimed that they were his whilst fighting Konan. Also, the manga has shown that the Rinnengan is an upgrade from the EMS, which Nagato would not have had access to.

It also seems unlikely that a Senju would achieve the Rinnengan, since they did not inherit the Sage's eyes.

I think there may be something there, seeing as the times when Nagato's parents were killed and he killed those Iwa-nins he doesn't remember it, right? He blacks out and does his thing. I wouldn't be too surprised if when he did it was Tobi or w/e doing something there when he was blacked out.

I don't think that Senju DNA is needed to awaken the rinnegan.
But yes, the Uzumaki are related with the Senju, but not because Mito maried Hashi.

But I agree, i think Nagato had his eyes implanted by tobi. How and when... I have no clue.
Nagato, being an Uzumaki, has a lot of stamina and chakra, and a strong body. I think that is why he did not tire as much as Kakashi using the sharingan for example.

I think you answered the title question. Tobi said he transplanted the eyes, but we can't believe everything Tobi said.

Bold part: We're not sure if his DNA is required for Rinnegan yet.

Ok guys

Where does it show in the manga that nagato awakened the rinnegan. That is what it seemed as first but then after tobi saying he gave nagato the rinnegan and madara talking about nagato as seen as he is revived I think it is more obvious that his rinnegan was implanted.

I always wondered why can't the rinnegan switch of but I just forced my self to believe that is how it is. Until I saw madara who can deactivate his at will. This implies that nagato's rinnegan was implanted.

Because they were "implanted" could be the reason why he can't use the sharingan part of the abilities.

You answer your own question in the 1st paragraph. I say we should just go by with what Tobi told us. I don't think we're getting any more answers than that.

Manga never showed nagat awakening anything.. His normal eyes were never shown, he always had his hair covering his eyes..
Kishi doesn't do stuff like that for no reason

Oi it was the anime then. I was watching that before reading the manga.

It has never shown Nagato awakening the Rinnegan. It has only shown him using a burst of its power through emotions(very similar to Gohan). Tobi claims he gave Nagato the Rinnegan. Madara claims that he was revived by Nagato only to be told he was revived through Edo Tensei. So what Tobi claimed might be very well true after all.

No not even the anime showed that which is my point, nagato's hair was always covered. But if nagato didn't have the rinnegan why would kishi cover his eyes straight away. After all this tobi and madara talk about nagato I think the answer is the reason kishi covered his eyes is because he always had the rinnegan (well from whenever it was first ever implanted into him that is)

^Definitely this. Tobi said that he gave the Rinnegan to Nagato. It could have been directly or indirectly. I don't think that Tobi has Senju blood because he would have been able to have the Rinnegan himself. I think that because he is not a Senju, he fostered the Rinnegan through Nagato.
