Do you think Kohohagakure MIGHT have some sort of Judicial System?

Like, how do they handle crimes? Is there such thing as fair trial, and the right to a jury? I understand how they collect information for an investigation, they probably have Yamanaka on the "Konoha Torture and Interrogation Force". But as far as deciding the punishment for the crime? Is it more fascist, democratic, or oligarchy? And more importantly, who the **** took my Toblerone out of the refrigerator? I will find you, damnit!

Eh, Sasuke was going to stand trial, I don’t think the defendant has a chance to defend themselves though.

Yeah. They should at least have laywers to negotiate the terms of their sentence, etc. They probably don't even have a concrete Constitution, let alone things like a plea bargain.

With mind readers and people that could force a confession via genjutsu, a lawyer would definitely help. Especially considering that both of those tactics could be used to frame an individual, mind you.

But overall, I think their system of governance is pretty solid save for the elders’ idiocy.

I think there's only trials in international cases where multiple kages would need to put their input in. Konoha seems pretty authoritarian going by how Naruto can free Sumire of any punishment and how Chuunin can pretty much beat the shit out of anyone so long as they claim said person was dangerous.

Yeah, mostly because everyone that’s imprisoned has undoubtedly been proven to have had committed crimes. And like nearly every head of country, they can grant amnesty. But I’m pretty sure chunin can’t go around stomping people without cause, unless I’m missing something.

Edit: On a side note though, The Foundation could forcibly take children from their families and have them indoctrinated as slaves/pawns so yeah...there’s that.

That episode where that mysterious chakra was possessing everyone. I saw it long ago, so it's possible I'm mixed up and the possession incidents weren't shrugged off or reported to anyone. Amnesty itself is different from what Naruto did. Beforehand and afterwards, Sumire simply didn't have to go through any sort of system. Naruto's word alone was enough to prevent judicial challenging assuming they actually have courts for domestic stuff.

Do they have due process, I doubt it. As ninja what's deemed as criminal are what ninja do, an act may be criminal only if it's done against their own citizens/clients. Konoha will view somebody else doing the same to them as criminal even if they do it to them, Ninja are mercenary after all.
