I think so. I dont see any reason why Itachi would have a hatred towards Kisame, he was typically easy going around him. And as for Kisame, he may have never showed much sign of friendship he did show signs of respect and honor towards Itachi, always agreeing with Itachi's wishes. Even up to his death, Kisame showed respect to Itachi by recalling the first time they met, and taking Itachi's words to heart.

I don't know if friend is quite the correct word but they do not fight, like most of the other pairs in akatsuki. and they did always protect, respect, and look out for each other. However I don't know if this was just respect and trying to work together for the common goal or actual friendship.

They were, and had respect for each other, Itachi may have hated akatsuki and was spying on them from on the inside, but he seemed to genuinly care about kisame, he warned him to be cautious about gai numerous times,

I think they had a friendship of sorts. Itachi seemed saddened when he saw that Killer Bee had his sword, or at least it seems sort of reflective. And Kisame thought about his words before he died. I mean they both had different teachers, but I think that they both had a big impact on the other, earning them some level of friendship. If you want to call it that.

I think they just got along, they wasn't "friends", but they never had any problems on getting along. Everytime Kisame would talk about rumors of Itachi's past he will just stay shut, so it showed that they wasn't friends, but they never got into an arguement, or never got to the point where they wouldn't get each other's back. For example, when Kisame acted as a "bodyguard" in order to let Itachi and Sasuke fight alone, without no interuptions from Sasuke's team. They somehow understood each other's pride and never had problems.
