For me, honestly, The Last was the end, even though I don't mind more stuff.
I'm talking about the manga not real life lol. They already had technology in Naruto's time but didn't dpend on it because of all the powers shinobi have. You don't really need cars or motorcycles when you can develop teleportation seals and what not.
But that's not what made me angry, I just hate the fact they have ninja scrolls, it's a hand out that can turn any fodder into top tier ninja without training or talent.
I'm invested in the world as much as Naruto as a character.
So I am personally excited to see how this develops, and even how the artist develops.
The artist has a ton of potential but we'll see how he lives up to the pressure.
I think handing the story over is a totally normal move. I mean Batman hasn't seen his original writer or artist in like 70 years and the franchise is still a total blast to read.
The notion of the genius author is over used as a point of criticism in manga in general. We don't really see the impact that the editors have on stories like Naruto or One Piece or pick your favorite. But in a company as prestigious as Shonen I would imagine the editors have a strong influence just like when they forcibly ended Naruto at chapter 700 creating all kinds of plot situations that irritated the fandom.
Kishimoto admitted that the animation had an impact on his drawing style, changing it dramatically. Now did he make that move naturally or was that encouraged by his editor?
My point being that the creation of any of these manga is a team effort from the editors to the support artists and even interns.
To call the new series fan fic is an insult to the concept of fan fic and the manga itself. Fan fic is rad, because why not allow fans and anyone to create something about characters they love, and the same applies to whomever picks up the torch for the Narutoverse.
I have a feeling Boruto will be about redemption instead of achievement.
