Does anyone think Gildarts might die?

I know he's the strongest character in fairy tail...and my third favorite character but...do you think he'll die as personally I think it would be an interesting method to evolve the plot can you imagine how much impact Gildarts dying would have on the story not to mention how much of a statement it would have on the enemies Fairy tail have to beat.

So what do you think would Gildarts dying make the story more interesting? Of course I'd only except his death if he went out like a boss.

I could see it having some meaning to Fairy Tail if he died, but I think it would impact Natsu the most. Talk about adding fuel to the fire. "See what I did there". I could see it happening or a twist within the story that he got killed by Zeref. We all know he goes all out on high class mission, and I wonder if he would track down and kill Zeref. I just wish he would train Natsu more, and him and Natsu set out to go find the Dragons. I still wonder about the other top 3 Wizard Saints, and what level are they at compared to Zeref.

I don't think he's the strongest character. Since there are 4 people known as "Gods". And IMO the top 2 of them are so strong that they'd beat Hades with less difficulty than Hades beat Makarov.

As for him dying: I don't think that's gonna happen. Since I think he'll fight Jackal (because there power is similar) and he'll obviously win. Hence I don't see anyone killing him. However, Zeref killing him is certainly possible. But then again Zeref doesn't kill anyone unless they do harm to him or people associated with him - and Gildarts knows full-well he can't compete with Zeref (seeing as he lost to Acnologia).

He meant that's he's the strongest in Fairy Tail. Good point thought he's not stuipd, but if he dies it would be interesting to see how Natsu would react, it would be almost like Naruto hearing that Jiraya died. At least some emotion, I was mad when Atlas died, and then the next couple of panes, Natsu is all cheery. That made me mad a little bit.

Probably not. He's far too powerful. He went toe to toe with Acnologia and survived and was able to discern that the dragon wasn't even trying on the island (meaning it did try somewhat against him). He's probably going to be integral to this arc as a whole because they will need massive firepower.

It would be sort of counterproductive. Gildarts is one of the strongest, if not the strongest mage out there (1v1 versus Acnologia and still be able to escape without a leg? Well..). If the guild kill Gildarts, I don´t see how FT can compete with them. And seeing Hiro´s usual motives, it would be Natsu wiping floor with all of them... blah.

That being said, I love deaths of strong characters. I just don´t see what it would bring to the table right now, only hype and over-expectations.

Probably not. Common, guy fought that nasty dragon and survived. Also ig he gets killed, how will anyone from FT win afainst Tartarus? Except if Natsu once again gets some huge power up.

gildarts is currently the strongest mage in the show, his feats are just to impressive by a long shot really. I mean he went toe to toe with acnologia sure that's cool and all, but he's the one person whose actually scared natsu so much he fell down and started crying. He accidently slipped and destroyed a city, they have to completely reconstruct the entire city just so he can walk through it, and he's so powerful they have to keep him out of the story or else he'd just slaughter everything. Hades thought bluenote was almighty and apologized to makarov for letting him out on his guild, just for gildarts to show up and 1 shot him with an uppercut. there's really no point to bring in gildarts unless it's so he can defeat E.N.D that not even igneel could destroy.
