Do you still consider Naruto as an underdog? If not, then why?

It seems like many people have lost that feeling of an underdog in Naruto ever since he was declared as 'the child of the prophecy'. So do you still consider him to be an underdog?

Nah, ever since he beat Pain he rose from his "underdog" status, even right now the whole ninja world is relying on him.

I say yes and know....or more specifically he's an underdog by chance.

As a child of prophecy, Uzumaki clan, Hokage's son Jinjuriki.....Naruto's potential was always set with EXTREMELY high levels which is not an underdog trait.

However, his circumstance is what's done it. Naruto grew up literally alone. Normally talents he had would become useless for he'd never have the encouragement, drive, or guide to unlock it. However, Naruto chose the right personality. As a result, through his own hard work, his potential was slowly realized.

Let's be honest how many of us would have truly gotten to Naruto's current state had we grown up all alone, and was hated by literally everyone except a shy girl who never spoke to you, a godfather who wasn't around, dead parents, and an always busy Hokage. I doubt very many would have been able to pull it off; however, Naruto did.

So in this regard he's an underdog despite having qualities that normally put him above an underdog.

Hope that makes sense :shy:

Ina way yes he still is. I mean he's currently in a battle that involves The ten tails and it's host, Madara, and four of the strongest ninjas ever. Not mention his rival in Sasuke.

No, but he would be if people knew the proper outcome of the Pein fight.

For me, no, simply because this is a Shounen manga and the main character can't lose.

He is an underdog, most times in his fights, the opposition is always stronger and by strength are meant to win... however, Naruto seems to come through despite the difficulties... e.g against Neji, against Haku, against Gaara, then in shippuden he usually fights big guyz straight after training and without rest e.g against Kakuzou, Pain, and even now in the war he came straight from training with Killer Bee.

Even though the whole alliance are depending on him, he is still the underdog because he has Kyuubi and the opposition has Juubi + rennigan + sharingan and loads of knowledge and war data transferred to him by Madara and some were collected by zetsu (when he records fights)!!!

So there is no way you can say he is not an underdog... You might say he has higher levels than most of the manga shinobi but to his opposition he is 2nd best. If he was top dog he won't need the help of others... I hope you understand the logic behind my hypothesis and you can re-read the manga where he fought people to see the empirical evidence of what I am saying *_*

No not at all...

Being child of prophecy, hokage's child, member of one of the most powerful clans, learning op techs in mere days, having unlimited secondary powers are out of "underdog" traits.

Kurama was bailing him out since Haku; it has nothing to do wtih his "hardwork"; he pissed of and unleashed immense power. In first chapter; he learned kage bunshin by a glance to a scroll...These are just few examples.

Birthed from the womb of a mother from a genius clan with a massive chakra pool, and a genius father with unparalleled battle skill.
Born with the gift of the most powerful beast held within his body.
Luckily got to be trained by the #1 leaf jounin - kakashi.
Trained by a Sannin - Jiraiya - and acquired all forms of OP bullshit that was extremely easy for him to use do to his previously stated lineage and monster in his belly

Naruto is far from an underdog. The only underdogs are the rookie 9, bar team 7, rock lee and ten ten. Everyone else is some gifted genious.

I disagree, he learned kage bunshin after hours of working at it. Yep he has always had great stamina due to his clan, but having a genius parent that no one knows about doesn't necessarily make you great, Hiruzen, the God of Shinobi had a son (Konohamaru's dad who no one has even heard of).

Naruto was shunned by all his teachers, I mean Kakashi taught him how to walk up a tree then ignored him for Sasuke. In his chunin preliminary he had a limit on his chakra, in his finals match he faced the most skilled shinobi after training hard to use a power that he has been shunned for, everyone should know how hard it was for him to learn the rasengan, and he couldn't even do it the proper way, and then the Rasenshuriken that he could only learn because of his stamina and still nearly died. In the majority of his fights, Naruto had to fight or gain a power against the odds. Just because the direction of the story has changed doesn't mean you should forget half of it. Against a lost of opponents Kurama had to bail him out but for him to get to that point in the first place he still had to fight against the odds

No.

He lost the "underdog" status hundreds upon hundreds of chapters ago. He's now super powerful with more power-ups coming his way, everyone loves him in the village and now he's already a "hero" for the whole Shinobi alliance. He's a star.
