I hope you're not implying that those who act somewhat-differently on NB are all fake people.

People act differently under different situations. Talking to a stranger online is way different than talking to a stranger in public. For example, there's a physical presense when you're communicating to someone in real life. That allows you to get to know more about a person. Let's face it, appearance is one personal attritube of your character. People tend to judge others by what they wear and how they dress. Also, feelings and opinions can be better conveyed through facial expressions, body gestures and the tone, pitch & volume of one's voice. That's just another advantage of interacting with people with their body.
