Many times that seems to be the case. And it always is. But seeing legends being reveal as there true forms.

Give a person a fish to eat, it will last him for a day. Teach him how to fish, he can feed himself for a lifetime.

The knowledge that many ninja process can teach others.

But as the master dies and so his legacy. It's up to the student to grasp what the master has taught.

Yeah :3. Other than Hashirama's era, since it was continuous turmoil, war and death. People had to train and fight harder than any of the following generations.

Well yeah, they are suppost to add on to what the master taught them then teach the next so they can add to it. The cycle is to make the next generation better.

Superiors still haven't been surpassed, Hiruzen is still stronger than Orochimaru, Jiraiya, and Tsunade. Also Minato is still stronger than Kakashi I think.
