...how strong Naruto would be if he had been trained and raised by a skilled shinobi rather than just be put into an empty apartment? Idk if this thread has been done before, but let’s say that the third hokage decides to find a capable caretaker and teacher for the son of the fourth hokage and the nine tails jinchurriki and naruto is taught from the earliest age possible how to fight and think like a shinobi. Do you think this would’ve changed anything? Would naruto still be an attention seeking loser who fails the academy three times? Or if he was loved and raised by someone who taught him everything already anyway, would he just be one of another group of geniuses to pass in the first year or so?

He would've been as skilled as part 1 Sasuke or even more so.

Not that skilled he's an Ashura incarnate and is meant to be behind. Konohamaru is the grandson of the 3rd Hokage and had his own private tutor since youth yet it didn't turn him into a beast.

Bro... he would've been taught by some scrub like Ebisu. I think this would actually have had detrimental effects on Naruto tbh. Naruto only learned Shadow Clone Jutsu because his inadequacy drove him to steal the Hokage's Scroll. I'm willing to bet his chakra control would've been better, but I don't know to what extent. Naruto needed a clone to help him make Rasengans all the way up until the end of the War Arc, so this version of Naruto that never learns Shadow Clone Jutsu may not learn Rasengan either.

As teh first pointed out, most of Naruto's character comes from his lack of an upbringing. While a number of his characteristics would still have worked, most of his talk-no-jutsu abilities came from his hardships growing up. He would have likely never learned the shadow clone jutsu, and would, also, have likely never developed the Rasengan as he did.

Or, perhaps, nothing would have changed, only the way in which events unfolded. Perhaps he would learn the Shadow Clone Jutsu while being a mischievous grandson-like character poking about. Perhaps he would still be taught the Rasengan by Jiraiya, and think to combine it with the clones (rather than simply doing it out of desperation). Perhaps he could still identify with people who he could have easily become, had it not been for his caretaker, etc.

It would make the story a little less interesting, though. People enjoy the story of underdogs - of people who come from little to achieve great things. Compare "Naruto" to "The Irregular at Magic High School" - While there is still some intrigue and entertainment value to The Irregular at Magic High School - the main character is practically a god character, and the story is only really saved by the intrigue surrounding its universe. The main character is, at least up to the point I have seen, boring.

Damn. I feel like you hit it square on with that second paragraph, kind of like what part 1 Neji was saying, “your destiny is fixed no matter what” so despite how naruto gets raised, he’d always learn shadow clone and rasengan.

And I definitely agree lol, an underdog who was to work for everything is much more rewarding to watch than some guy who just starts off all powerful

He would have been a more likable character. He wouldn't be seeking attention every 5 seconds, attention wh*re Naruto is very annoying.

His chakra control would have been much better and he likely would have known more jutsu, perhaps he would learn shadow clones later in life. He would likely pass the academy after a single try and most probably won't be in team 7 since he wouldn't be the dead-last.

For NaruHina fans, Hinata wouldn't be interested in him since he wouldn't be a loser so Bolt and Himawari won't exist.
