* A Leopard will fight fiercely to protect its cubs, but if needs be, it will leave them behind to live another day and have another litter... seems logical...

* A lioness will help the current King to battle whichever intruder to protect its cubs but if powerful enough, she will let it slide to have cubs with this new clearly genetically superior King,..

This seems to be chemically controlled by endocrine systems I suppose(hormones, instinct) until:

A mother sacrificed her self in an earthquake(Japan) for her child to live, leaving a note behind. As poignant as it seem by Natural standards it could judged as rather foolish as she could have replaced the helpless thing with way more later on in life. Maybe she saw only a small body can survive in the tiny space, we'll never know.
Therefore:

IS LOVE ABOVE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM CHEMICAL REACTIONS??

I think it is. Is my mother used to cry and her World was broken down whenever something Bad happened to me as a child.

Comparing us to animals even though we're Part of nature too wont work. Rumors has it that Harambe loved that child so much that it actually jumped infront of the bullets to protect him

Love is a word. What matters is the connection that word implies.

Hormones and chemicals do play a big role in deciding if a person could be a potential partner and influence our preferences for specific physical features (like, a person's body odor for example). But true "Love" is more than that. It's a social construct that you can't explain solely with science.

Any tested medicine that ever worked on white mice works on humans too... fun fact

What foolish logic is this? :| "Magic is a word what matters is the spell action????" That's what I call a dead statement... WTF Words are used to label things and shorten explanations :sdo:

I don't see how a socially constructed concept cannot be explained psychologically...

I think family love is definitely more than chemical reaction...whilst other love can go more deeper than that...

If you think so, why don't you go and speek with scientists and ask them how far they've come with explaining it.

Pheromones are used to attract potential mates. This cause chemical changes in the brain, leading to infatuation. People started calling it "love".

Done.

Unfortunatelly, no. It can all be explained in natural phenomena and is as such no more than a guided process. That's if you're a materialist.

Just one of many reasons why the view is depressing.

Yea I don't think it's just a mindcontrolled thing. There is something spiritual about it not just a product of dna or chemical reactions.

So you mean it can be explained using Naturalism terms?
Just one of many reasons why the view is depressing.
By that you mean? To the Romeos and Juliets?

Ehhh I am a researcher my self. Not in Biology of course...

OTT: Come out of the woods, which part of love is/you feel unexplained yet?

Why

What is the meaning of "deep" in logical terms?
Deep instead of infatuation, a lot more intense. As for family thing...it's just natural you would have to be insanely stone hearted to not love your family members.

You're looking for an explanation to something science can only explain half of. Chemical reactions/pheromones cover the physical attraction part, but love is a concept unique to humans. We are the only species who doesn't solely engage in sexual behavior for the sole purpose reproduction. Love in neither physical nor chemical. It's more than the sum of it's scientific chemical reactions. Love is more of concept/state of being unique to humanity.

There really isn't an easy or be all explaination to it.

Now for the OP...I am no expert in animal love, so I have no answer(I didn't read the OP to begin with).

Which other side of love is not explained scientifically? Pigs, Dolphins, A few other primates occasionaly have sexual activities purely on boasting purposes...
