do you believe in coincidences?

I have an aunt who had 3 kids, one girl and 2 boys, she widowed when she was pregnant of the third kid and as a tribute to the father she named the boy after the father but also the other one was named like his father, basically the 2 boys had the same name, by the way the name is oscar.

So a couple years back the older son oscar got killed, and now there´s only one oscar left out of the 3. what it seems almost magical to me is that she always had an oscar by her side, when she was young she had oscar the husband, when her husband got sick and died she had his older son oscar and now that his older son got killed she has the younger oscar. So do you think this was a coincidence?

I believe in coincidences, but [and I truly mean this in the least disrespectful way] I don't think your aunt's situation is coincidence. It's tragic that she had to lose so many of those close to her. But she's the one who named all of them after her late husband. Death is the one and only thing in life that is certain. It can happen at any time. If I name my child tragedy, is it a coincidence when they die? No it means that I have a poor choice of name selection [I am not saying that your aunt has poor name selection by the way].

I believe that is just your aunt being unable to move on. The first Oscar might have just been a nice idea, but the second is just her being stupid.

Yes, i do belive in coincidences, but this is not one. If there were 17 kids, all boys named oscar, that would be a coincidence + Crazy aunt.
