I believe that some people are naturally gifted in a way they never discover, so they underestimate themselves. If you tink so, everyone has a talent. The amount of use of this gift makes the difference for normal people.
There are also geniuses and this is at another level. When the personal impression that a human gives in his lifetime lasts for centuries or millenia, that human it's beyond ordinary for sure.

I think everyone has equal potential to be extraordinary in whatever they pursue. What varies is our determination to be great and the willingness to do the hard work.

Some just excel at things more than others, while others will graft to get close to them. Humans are different, have different skills and talents for a reason. If everybody excelled at a similar discipline they'd all go for it and society would come to a standstill and humans would become obsolete.
I think the biggest failings of society at the moment is the drive to make everybody the same, equals or carbon copies of one another. Instead people should recognise differences and nurture the differences to help people achieve excellence in their talents.
