The following writing is fairly long, I have shared the idea with my friends and after thinking and trying out what I asked them to try they agreed with me and thought that the whole idea seems simple but has many layers to it.
I want you guys to leave me your opinion on what I have stated and if you agree or disagree, furthermore I want to know after you try this how much you lie (if at all!
When asked "Do you lie often?" most of us hope and answer "I lie sometimes but not often" however for everyone I have spoken to, I have proved to them that we lie everyday, at home,in our thoughts and when talking. Before i proceed with this thread I want to make a few "disclaimers", this is not information that has been processed by professionals(to my knowledge), this is just everything I thought of all alone and it could all be wrong. Lastly this may seem very simple and you may think that it is obvious but in reality it's not so simple or obvious.
When you think, do you have two thoughts? Now some of you probably already get what I am talking about but others won't (which is fine). When I say do you have two thoughts it's not a trick question, It's simple. If you are about to answer "No ... are you crazy?", I want you to focus for a second. Think of dogs, think what dogs like to eat, as you do this you... do you notice that second "voice" talking?
To explain it in simple manner this is how one's thought process may be, simultaneously "Okay... so dogs like meat and of course they like bones" and while one is thinking this, there is also another voice thinking "am I doing this right?I wonder where this is leading up to". Try it for yourself.
Now why did I ask you about if we have two thoughts?Well the two thoughts directly link up with our topic. Since I do not know how other people think, all I can tell you is from my personal thinking experience. My two voices are always working and thinking, however It seems that for me there is a strong thought and an almost sub conscious thought. The "Strong" thought would be the one saying "Okay... so dogs like meat and of course they like bones" and the thought that is almost sub conscious will be thinking "am I doing this right?I wonder where this is leading up to".
The thing I have noticed is that we lie to ourselves many times and I think I can prove it to you. When we think of something that we don't want to admit or we want to think otherwise the almost sub conscious thought ALWAYS says the truth and shows you what you are emotionally feeling, but often we use the "strong" thought to shout over the honest thought so we don't feel bad or so we don't have to come face with the truth. Again to try and make it easier for you to understand, I will try show you a thought process that may happen if we were asked "Does that person look better than me",however in this case "that person" does really look better than you (for the sake of this thread). SOME people will admit the truth and think "Yeah he/she does" however others that don't want to accept the truth may think "I mean... does he/she really look better than? His/her hair is bit messed up and she/he has a weird smile, I wouldn't say she/he looks better" however the subconscious thought will be saying "Yeah I think she/he does look better than me".This was just an example, this can also happen with choices where you try to convince yourself about something you really don't agree with. As I previously stated, this may seem silly, simple and obvious but most don't understand how effective my statement is. Right now or today, If you get that guilty feeling that you may be lying to yourself I want you to connect with that almost sub conscious thought and see what it is saying, IF you do this honestly you will notice how much you lie to yourself a lot of the times. You will notice how you need to lie to yourself in order to not hurt your ego. This is human so there is nothing wrong with it. Until you try seeking for the deeper thought when you think of ego damaging questions you will probably think this whole post is stupid or pointless, but believe me, like I wrote before IF YOU try this throughout the day , you will see how much depth the statement has.
For me I noticed I lie quite a lot to myself and If I try to go to the sub conscious thought in my head so I know If i am lying to myself.
