Do we go more in depth then the authors?

We have the luxury of going over series years after they've ended, so it's only natural. Besides that, there's literally millions of fans for these series opposed to a single writer and a handful of editors.

That’s true, what author would you consider one of the few if you don’t mind me asking?

Tsugumi Obha (the writer of death note) imo. The attention to detail in Death Note was outstanding. You can hardly find any plot holes in it. In the first season at least. The 2nd season was still pretty good imo but I heard that it was done much better in the Manga. But I haven't read the Manga yet so I can't tell.
