CM Punk didn't become face because he had too much tatoos.

Do you believe a heavily tattooed white person gets the usual "white privilege"? that some believe whites receive?

I don't want to get into white privilege or all that shite, but yes, tats do affect how people perceive you or what jobs you can get and things. Should they? No, but it does happen.

Yes I guess so, many think that tattooed persons aren't as trustworthy, etc., as people without them.
So a non-tattooed White person would have better chances to get the job.

It's about Whites persons, do you really want to start a race war? Just stay on topic and don't bring inconvenient stuff into this discussion.

It isn't a race war. It is a fact

Please sit down

Sorry if it were fact then 100% of the white populace would be in posh homes with black or latino cheifs serving them only 10% of white and black are rich

You missed the point but what ever its not a life story its a fact and its your kind of mentality that racism and ignorance still exists

1. You don't understand what WP really is it seems.

2. Because your experiences apply for everyone?

It's not, you're delusional. You have no facts to back up your claim. You never have. You can't discuss, because you never have any proof.

So no thank you, but thanks for the offer.

I know some real gentlemen, not a single bad bone in their body, covered in tattoos even on their neck and face.

White privilege is a meaningless buzzword.

If the undercurrent of the thread is that Whites are perceived as less threatening, dangerous etc simply because they are White as compared to say Blacks, then I would argue that this is correct.

These sort of stereotypes are heuristics that ordinary folk (I suspect that it is intuitively used even by most Blacks even if they consciously deny it) employ, and are based on the statistical reality of ethnic differences in crime.

There is a mathematical theorem - one of the most important of all - called Baye's theorem that underlies this intuitive expectation.

The theorem, putting it as simply as possible for you guys, says that the probability of a given event happening depends on the prior probability of identical or similar events that have already happened.

When you see someone with baggy pants and a hoodie listening to rap music on the streets, for example, and knowing that a certain criminal sub-culture also has a taste for that style of clothing, you might think that the chances of you being victimized by that youth would therefore be higher than by someone with normal clothes.

The trouble with this sort of reasoning when applied to racial stereotypes as has been pointed by many mathematicians is that the absolute probability of the average Black person committing a crime against you is so low in the first place that the Bayesian inference is not justified.

What those mathematicians fail to understand, however, is that rigorous mathematics and intuitive psychological rules of thumb that people utilize in the real world are different things.

Lay people in the real world hold many wrong physics concepts in their head (search 'naive physics' for more on this). Their intuition may be wrong but it is a fact nevertheless that virtually all people not trained in formal physics have them.

I would argue that there is a 'naive probability theory' that most folk also intuitively have and employ in the real world. And if you consider that in this naive Bayesian inference people assess probabilities in relative, as opposed to absolute, terms, racial stereotypes become understandable (note I never made any moral claims there).

It doesn't matter that the average 'gangsta' style clad Black youth on the street is highly unlikely to be a criminal - all that matters is that Blacks are overrepresented in crime and that certain criminal cultures are prone to using that clothing style.

A far less known fact in these debates, but a very important one I think, is that White's aren't even the most underrepresented group in crime. North East Asians happen to hold that honour. Peoples from China, Korea and Japan whether they live in America, Europe, Australia etc are consistently underrepresented in crime - that is, they commit less crime than we would expect them to given their population.

Even if I happen to understand Baye's theorem and its fallacies, I would be lying if I said that I did not psychologically feel safer in a White area than in a Black one. On the other hand, I would also feel a lot safer in a poor Chinese neighborhood than in a poor White one.

So none of this has anything to do with 'privilege' - it is simply naive probability theory that most humans have internalized from their experience for the same reasons that they have of naive mechanical ideas (like that inertia does not exist).

White privilege isn't just "Yeah I'm white I'ma be rich." Perhaps the best example of WP right now is that statistically, whites don't have to worry about being harassed and straight up murdered by police on the basis of their race.

White privilege is being called "stylish" and "fashionable" when you adopt features of clothing that black people are mocked for.

White privilege is not having to worry about not getting that job you just interviewed for because of your skin.

White privilege is when you shoot up a school, the media floods images of you at graduation and at work and at church, and you were "That good kid who was troubled oh I can't believe he'd do this," and having anecdotes about how great a person you were, but when a POC is unjustly murdered or commits the same crime, the media is flooded with "thug photos," and black crime stats are suddenly brought back up and you're called a terrorist.

White privilege is when people protest the unjust killing of black people, they're called "thugs" and shown on the news in an extremely negative light, but when white people riot and destroy property over football games, the news glosses over it.

dafuq? In what century do you guys live in. I have both arms tatted, plus chest and backpiece. I haven't experienced any discrimination whatsoever. It was different in 50's when all those who had tats were either prisoners or sailors.

Tattoos are lame.
I completely disagree

Ill answer the bold in order

1. If it's not something that happens to 100% of black people 100% of the time then it isn't really a racial privilege. If you're saying that blacks are "more likely to be targeted" that still isn't a problem that black people face and white people don't 100% of the time. The black isn't always viewed as bad, the white isn't always view as good. I can just as easily face discrimination from a black person in power but population numbers favor me. So your real complaint is "white people outnumber black people"

2. Black privilege is being considered cool no matter what you do, where as I look fake if I try to do anything considered cool.

3. That isn't true, increasingly, more qualified white males are passed over for jobs because a minority candidate would be "more favorable". An example of this is obviously Affirmative action and the push to have more women in math and science

4. Black privilege is having the media scared to call you the things you described. Notice they used adolescent pictures of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown instead of more current photos. Not to mention the term "gentle Giant" used to describe Michael Brown when that obviously wasn't the case.

5. The only killing that was unjust was the one where the cop shot the guy in the back in SC. Notice he got put in jail. The other killings are highly debatable and black people can't be unbiased. Even if they try Darren Wilson and find him innocent(which was obvious) black would have still rioted.

There is a vast canyon between a race riot and a riot after a sporting event(not all white people btw)
