Well all hypes follow feats.. well atleast some.

3rd Raikage: ultimate spear and nearly invincible defense
Feat: took on 10,000 shinobi, and the 8-tails

Hashirama: only one capable of taking on Edo Madara
Feat: had many tail beasts under his control, Beat Madara in his prime.

But I see your point.

Hiruzen : God of shinobi
Feat: none

Hiruzen : The professor
Feat: said to have mastered 1000+ jutus.

Kakashi: the copycat
Feat: copied over 1000 jutsus.

And now you see my point?

How is Kakashi hyped? People underrate him if anything. He's versatile, possesses Kamui, has defeated several strong opponents in the series. Naruto and Bee wouldn't have been able to touch Obito without Kakashi using Kamui. I can go on. Kakashi has feats. They don't get respected.
