So I got a little story.
Recently I was talking to some of friends while heading home from school, the subject of the conversation jumped back and forth, from politics to current events to anime and eventually to video games. Eventually we got to the subject of what we like in certain video game characters, and eventually we got to female (main) characters.
Then it hit me, a lot of the traits we were listing as "positive" for female (main) characters were closely related to the tomboy trope, basically masculine in nature, tough, willing to get their hands dirty, basically behavior guys show off (no need to go into detail).
Hell, I even began to list out a few famous characters myself:
Ellie (The Last of Us)
Samus Aran (Metroid)
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
So I ask, do guys prefer the tomboy archetype for female main characters in video games? Also there are probably a hell of a lot more characters I missed so feel free to list off a few more.
