I find it shocking that people ACTUALLY thought that Minato's was better than Tobirama's.
Flying Thunder God is a special jutsu. Unlike most other jutsu, there isn't a better version- FTG is FTG. Rather what makes one a better user of it is just that- a better user. At the end of the day the jutsu is the exact same thing: the ability to place a mark. If Tobirama can put the mark on a person, he can put it on any other solid object (weapon, ground, etc). It doesn't take some special power to touch steel vs cloth.
This "FTG v2" is a nonexistent myth. The jutsu itself is a seal not a pat of the hand! What Minato did by creating a teleporting barrier, marking numerous kunai and using it simultaneously, etc. is the exact same jutsu as Tobirama marking his kunai, sword, enemy, or anything else. The jutsu is nothing more than a teleporting seal that can be placed on any solid. If you know FTG you can do that with any solid.
The only thing that set Minato above Tobirama in regards to FTG was his proficiency in using the same jutsu. FTG is not like Rasegan, etc. where there are better version of it. Rather, FTG is literally the same jutsu.
I can't believe people actually thought "FTG v2" was a special type that let you put it on steel :/

2 unrelated points in regards to possibly feasible FTG upgrades in usage.
1. Flying Thunder God + Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu = literally marking the entire battlefield with 1 kunai, allowing you with relative ease to teleport where you desired.
2. Flying Thunder God [actual] v2 - allowing it to be cast on and from liquids. Would make Water users who happen to know FTG (coughtobiramacough) amazingly deadly. Swamp the field with water -> teleport to any object (or person) with you're chakra infused water on them by instantly casting a seal there.
okay that's all discuss
