I only stated a moral judgement that there must be a problem with a belief if it's used for harming others. It's another question if that belief is true or not.
I agree that just because something is misused, it doesnt make it inherently bad. But beliefs are the results of the human mind, while a tree is not. Yeah, Christianity was meant to be the religion of love, Islam the religion of peace...etc. But then these are only human concepts as well. These beliefs are okay, but some people distorted these. And these distoreted beliefs are morally wrong, but morality is subjective after all. A tree on the other hand cant be morally wrong, because a tree is not a human belief, only the act of humans using it to harm others can be wrong.
1. My original statement was a critique of your original idea that the belief or system of beliefs brought harm. (Referring to Christianity as you originally spoke about Christians causing wars and thing of that nature) I myself implying that it was not caused by this but instead an error in human ethics.
2. Love and peace are not human concepts, the terms "love" and "peace" are lingual labels that humans have put on pre-existing phenomenon. Regardless I understand what you are saying, and I do not believe that those who have bent and used beliefs to their advantage have necessarily believed they were doing the right thing, or at least those who did the actual manipulating. Followers of these manipulations may have been adequately fooled.
Yes this is true a tree is not morally wrong, but as I was referring to most popularized deist beliefs, those that you seemingly claimed were responsible for wars and such, I was able to use the inherently positive or positive-neutral ideas in comparison the inherently positive or positive- neutral tree. (Positive coming from it's generally good effects of the presence of trees on humans)
