If you look at the nominees for Best Rock Song, which of those listed is rock?
Paramore with a dumb ass pop song..
Black Keys with a hipster bullshit song.
Beck with whatever that was...
Ryan Adams.....Who?
Jack White may be the only person on this list that could be considered "Rock"

Then you have 1 award for each type of genre, country, rock, dance, etc...
Then the rest are awards for Pop and Hip-Hop artists, half just came out this year with vial songs.

I mean the quality today of artists suck.


Where was Foo Fighters in the Rock category. They just came out with a new album this year and they are a really well known band. Something from Nothing is a really good song, but not a single mention of it.

Basically media is filtering the mainstream music to such watered down, horrible messages, and whatever else they need to push agendas onto teenagers to make them think, oh its ok to lie to my significant other if I cheated on them, singing about banging someone all over the room, or how much money I have and bragging about it.

LMAO Yes, I think its evident teenagers should explore more music, instead of constantly repeating the shit they hear on the radio. Yeah I have seen that thread, the fact meghan trainor and iggy are nominated is hilarious. But it's mostly based on popularity, So I am not surprised, yeah the only decent song I found in the list was antrhax neon knights, an ok cover, but nothing like dio. But I don't even care about the grammy's tbh.

Sadly, I don't listen to much classic rock anymore (since the summer). But I was raised on the stuff, so it'll always be with me. I really enjoy Led Zeppelin (my favorite), Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, AC/DC, Def Leppard, INXS (not classic, but still good), Pink Floyd, Queen, U2, Van Halen, The Who, et cetera.

Exactly. I'm a musician.I play the flute and I love to listen to all types of genres and discover new stuff. I don't turn down a genre because I heard a few songs I didn't like. I don't call people taste in music"shitty"either because that's stupid.

Yeah most of them do, well I am not really generalizing but apparently it's just becoming obvious, really. Since most teenagers/kids I meet tell me these awful lot of bands that are just, insipid and totally ****ing weird. Before anything, I'm into all sorts of music, to doom metal to satanic black metal. ;b

What inspired me to make this thread, well....So the other day me and my fiance were on my computer playing some music, now the thing we both are really into metal, so we were playing some old black sabbaths vol 4 cause my fiance hasn't heard that album and was interested due to the fact it's mostly doom metal, when my uncles daughter comes in (she's like 15) stands there and then says "ummm Why are you listening to such edgy music" I was ****ing done. Wtf? How is this even edgy? I proceed to ask her what she thinks is good, and hilariously she blasts on some emo mayday parade, as if that wasn't worse, throwing in some pierce the veil, and both me and my fiance were internally dying due to laughter.

Now Listen to what you like, I don't care and it doesn't really phase me, what annoys me is, is these kids going around burgeoning how these bands and artists are "OHH SO WOW" well kids, they're not. That's a contradiction soo....

This is really prominent in the hip hop genre tbh, now I refuse to believe how kendrick lamar, kid cudi, j cole are the best rappers, even accounting self preference, there are many better rappers, better lyricist than them, I barely meet anyone who thinks rappers like Big L, raekwon, RZA, jedi mind tricks, Rakim, inspectah deck, wu tang, MF doom and many more better then the ones mentioned.

How can you speak for "most teens/kids"? That is still a generalization because you used the word most. Just because you don't like what they are listening to doesn't necessarily consider it "trash".

Red herring, basically drifting away. Who am I to determine that? First off I am 19 (legally adult, still in my teen years) secondly, again, Most= not all =greatest in amount or degree. Thread title is a question, you abhor the fact it could may very well be written in an insular sense, If I am generalizing, by basically saying "all teenagers" have bad taste, than I would be rigidly generalizing, it's blatantly obvious at this point, If you think that my purpose is to generalize, meaning I'm implying that "all" have bad taste, than feel free to bash me. Because in numbers, it's mostly the teenage audience who are exposed and listen to such music, meaning "most" in a greater degree or numbers.

Where I was getting at is that you should be more respectful to others opinions.

Keep in mind I also don't like a lot of today's music. For example I hate Iggy's music, but I am not going around bashing people who do like her music.

I think I somehow know how you feel.

In high school, in university, I have never seen too much people listening to rock. Someone listening to metal was a rarity... and it was metalcore or death metal, which is not my cup of tea.

I am completely fine with others listening to what they like; I do the same. I just feel somehow lonely when I cannot talk with the people I know about the music I like.

I have got used to it, and as I spend my time playing NFS World, reading manga, listening to music and doing digital art, I do not feel the lack of friends.

Black Metal is something that I adore, and I really care more about it than I care about others.

I believe that process of building music taste must be treated very carefully. When I was a kid I couldn't hear music from radio or TV in my house due to different reasons. But my grandfather had a distinctive respect for all arts. And he had this philosophy that accepting art needs, first of all, a lot time and feelings involved in that process. He used to take me to the record store and made me listen to few albums of different genres he would pick for me and then I would need to choose one of them which we would buy. And he made me listen to, basically, everything, from pop, rock, jazz to blues, hip-hop music, traditional music, classic music. Still I don't think that he thought that of all things he made me listen to I would choose rock music. Lol
And only later I realized that spending time in that record store waiting for my grandfather to pick for me some new records for listening shaped my music taste.

Children today listen to music almost all the time from radio, TV or internet. And it’s a fact that all of those sources are playing most of the time music that is popular. And sadly that popular music is garbage, basically. But that doesn’t mean that all music today is garbage. All of those sources are playing music with quality also, but you just need to start picking and spending time doing that. But again, popular music is there all the time, wherever you go (at least it’s like that here where I live) and almost all of the people around you are listening to it so it’s easier to choose that instead of spending some time searching for something that actually is an art.
