[Suggestion] Disrespectful/Offensive Members

After lurking on the forums and posting a few times I seem to continuously come across members who just bash the ideas of others and say extremely offensive things to others users. These comments range from remarks about the mentally disabled to insults about homosexuality. Every new idea is shot down by users who clearly post just to prove that they are the only "Naruto experts" on the site and call other people stupid. I'm sure this site would have even more members if new members weren't being treated in such a way. It is certainly OK to disagree but I would like to see members do so respectfully.

Is there any way to get a message across the top of the forum advising users to post respectfully in the same way that the spoiler advisory is posted? Better yet, could actual actions be taken against members who respond using offensive or disrespectful language? I'm sure there are forum rules but no one seems to follow them and it makes this site very unwelcoming.

My point is that it is becoming a good majority of the posts on this site. So if the mods do something (anything) it may lead to better discussions. Do you guys not find it annoying to wade through 3-4 pages of bashing to get to any actual responses or alternate theories?

I agree, the amount of insolents i've come across recently is ridiculous.

Makes me sad to know that a nice looking naruto site is full of hypocrites, trolls and disrespectful people.

Well in a site filled with fanboys and people with short-tempers, trolls breed and reproduce various threads xd
In simple words, Trolls enjoy these kind of responses from their silly threads and therefore make such threads. :shrug:

I believe the advisory change randomly in every thread.There are many messages displayed, maybe you haven't notice them.
Members that continuously bash others and make insulting comments every time are getting banned or get infractions.
Sometimes some members(including me) tend to be hotheaded when stating their opinion or use sarcasm.This depends on the quality of the thread too.There are many fanboy/troll threads which are causing this kind of reactions.
But this is a site with a large number of register members you can't expect everybody to be nice and polite all the time.
If you see something that is insulting and breaks the rules just report it.

I encourage everyone to report members who insult or harass others. Since there are a limited number of Moderators the only way to keep track of everything is through reports, so use the report button if you need to. No one will ever know you used it...well, except for the staff.

Why would you need to put this message up on the forum? They should be smart enough to read the rules in the first place, nay, they should be smart enough to respect other members, as they would respect people in real life, as this is included in the agreement when signing up.

Just report them, it helps keep the board clean. Once they get their infraction they'll stop. Or perhaps not if they're aren't smart at all.

Word. Thanks for the opinions all. Just wanted to get something frustrating off my chest. This is a well-made site and Naruto is, and always has been, an awesome manga.

Although if Veritas ever comes back (it won't) feel free to make a site for it, and I will haunt that one instead.
