Before I give you my answer, I will tell my story as member of a Naruto forum. Also, know that every person who ever discuss with me know that I go for clear cut specification of factors, bad, good, intent, and results. Thus, my argument that follows need to take these aspects into account.
I. When I was caught between Madara's fanboys and Hashirama fanboys!
II. Now, Sasuke vs Naruto
The story has not changed in terms of power. The only difference is that unlike Hashirama, Naruto was unwavering. Thus, in all their confrontation, Naruto never tried to kill Sasuke, even to harm him. Naruto's goal as he always stated was to beat some sense into Sasuke. He even asked him often, "Are you back to your senses?" This was Naruto's goal.
Now, concerning Sasuke, he always wanted to destroy Naruto. Specifically, in the last fight, Sasuke was going to kill Naruto. He used every ounce of power he had, and yet failed. Naruto cancelled every single attack Sasuke brought from base Sasuke to biju Sasuke to everything he has.
So, as far as we are here, there is one clear fact:
In order to conclude, we need to answer the following question:
Well, I would answer for myself: See my topic I (Hashirama vs Madara). Obviously, if Naruto was planning to kill Sasuke, making many clones, pumping Sage chakra continuously, and using strategy. If Naruto was drawing every bit of resources he has, I can say he will have destroyed Sasuke low diff. My point is, Naruto is way stronger than Sasuke, and this is my proof:
Fact is Naruto wasn't bluffing, and he proved it by stopping everything Sasuke has. Thus, his word are trustworthy just as Hashirama's were. The word Naruto spoke to Sasuke about wanting to be like him, about his power, etc, are the words that makes Naruto a great leader. There are the word that Naruto knows can heal Sasuke's hatred. They are not to mean that Naruto is weaker than Sasuke because they are about the past. On the other end, everything Sasuke said was true. He was envoious of Naruto just as he was envious of Itachi. Naruto was ahead of him after Zabuza's arc just as he felt as he would never catch to Itachi. behold:

Initially, I was a fan of Naruto anime, and watched until the introduction of Akatsuki, and even Nagato. Then, I ran out of episode, and one of my friend told me I could read the manga. Boys, it was good, and I loved the story because it was familiar to me: Two brothers fighting for recognition, one who want to do the right thing and the other who want to be recognized irrespective of what others think of his action. This was my human life, and also part of my religion.
As soon as I started on manga forum, I claimed that if we were to know the true story of Madara and Hashirama, we would see that Madara was always beaten by Hashirama and he was nothing before Hashirama. Some people told me that Madara is unbeatable by all the strongest characters, thus I have to be wrong. My answers were as follows:
(1) In Religious debate, the devil (Satan) is no match for God. God can kick his ass no difficulty with a cough from his mouth. Yet, apart from God and without God, no one else can beat the devil. Such was Madara ( as Satan) vs Hashirama (as God).
(2) The devil (Satan) has been trying to defeat God since ages, and he is still around till the end. because of this, a lot of people know him, and fear even his power (see (1)). Thus, the devil is also a power to be aware of and not to play with. The devil is a legend, but his legend is that of a guy who always lose to God and continuing bragging and picking on weak human being by tricking them. this is exactly Madara vs Hashirama, and just like the devil, Madara never repented.
So simply put, my argument was that Madara was strong, but his legend was actually created because Hashirama was always living him alive. It was an implicit revelation of Hashirama's might. This being said, my point is Madara was a punk before Hashirama just as Hashirama proved it when he wanted to kill him. Madara knew it so well that he wanted Hashirama's power without which he could not compete.

Fact 4: Sasuke's Revolution was simply a desire to remove the mountain before him: Naruto. He Failed.
