I believe that, too.
The whole point of Hashirama's flashback was to make another parallel at him and Naruto.
Naruto will achieve what Hashi could not. He will make the villagers trust Sasuke, while Hashi failed at it.
Couldn't say it any better... thank's!

It feels so asspully to be honest. Sasuke shifting his goals, Hashirama's flashback... You can't change your main character's ideals like that in 30 chapters when you built up his goal and dreams for 600 chapters. It needs significant foreshadowing and planning and can't happen "Just because".
The main motifs and themes surround Naruto were never giving up and I think stepping aside like that kind of shits on that theme. And according to the recent chapters he has shown no interest in the slightest of giving up his goal (the sasuke thing in the iron village being the only real exception, but he reverted back to "I'm going to be hokage" right after that anyways).
I don't like the idea, but if it is foreshadowed better in the future I may buy into that.
Very true, but Naruto's goal isn't just to become Hokage, he also wanted to save Sasuke & this is why he trained himself to become stronger. Sasuke is a stubborn guy & Naruto knew it, if Sasuke failed to accomplish his goal he may end up in the darkness again. Same thing what happened to Madara when the village chose Hashirama over him. Hashirama's TNJ was better than Naruto, & it's really surprising that he was the one to change Sasuke's mind. People might not like it from the start because others thought it was Naruto's duty as his friend to save Sasuke, & he never gave-up trying to bring Sasuke back to the village. Currently, Sasuke is no longer in the dark, all Naruto needs to do is to guide him towards the right path through Itachi's statement. This is the part where Hashirama failed to save Madara when he took over the First Hokage title.

Nice theory. This would certainly upset a lot of Naruto fanboys lol.
Couldn't agree more, thank's for the complement.
