The last Popularity poll came out in early 2011 on either chapter 532 or 533. Naruto was first, & Sasuke was second.
The one you're thinking of is the 3rd databook (from 2008), which simply combined the overall votes from all the previous polls.
Kakashi was first there, Naruto 2nd i think & Sasuke 3rd.

Not hating on Kakashi, but just what would you have expected him to do in the movie? Kakashi no longer has the sharingan, and while he may be a very capable shinobi let's be honest - without the sharingan, Kakashi is half the shinobi he was. The villains in Boruto overpowered Naruto and Sasuke, so they no doubt would have wiped the floor with Kakashi. Lee or Gai would have been a better match against them instead of Kakashi, since those two specialize in Taijutsu, where as Kakashi specialized in Ninjutsu and Genjutsu.
