Hi everyone,

This is my first post here - I have read the forums on and off for some time, and have now plucked up the courage to join as a member and post. Thank you for having me!

I have been a Naruto fan for a couple of years. Orochimaru has been my favourite villain since appearing in Naruto. To me, he is everything a villain should be and more - and when I watch anime, read manga or watch any other tv show, I am always drawn to the villain. Orochimaru is a key reason for me watching the show.

I was disappointed to see him meet his demise in the way that he did - I was really hoping to see him in a 'real' fight in Shippuden, ideally using his hands. So it got me thinking - here is a villain who dominated throughout the original Naruto - and played a key role at the end in the development of Sasuke. So logically, you would think that as Shippuden starts, if he was being killed off completely, he would go out in style - in a way befitting such an important character. After all, with the emotional investment that people place in such a character, anything but a grand send off would be disappointing - and that's how I feel at the moment - a bit empty.

Whilst I watch the anime, I do peek at the manga. Something caught my interest in the manga - the much talked about return of Orochimaru.

With that in mind, it has got me very excited about where this could be heading. I know that Orochimaru's return has been discussed previously on the forum.

However, knowing Kishimoto as you do (as the man behind the manga), what does everyone think regarding the future of Orochimaru - is it unlike Kishi to cripple a major villain and send him off into nothingness without a major pay off?

I guess I am trying to get into the mind of the writer here.... i.e. if you bring back this villain, do you bring him back because he will only be a side-show act - or... do you bring him back knowing that if he is brought back, then the only logical path is for him to play a major role to justify his return...

Looking back at Kishi's way of thinking / writing, am I getting my hopes up with Orochimaru's return?

Most villains in Naruto went out with style. Or with a "BANG" as Deidara might say it. Im sure its no different with Orochimaru. Welcome to the base, btw.

We've only seen him back and covered for a chapter. The only thing that we seem to know is that while he still wants Sasuke's body, his character seems somewhat changed, subdued even.

Also, welcome to the base. A nice first post, if a bit wordy.

Welcome and nice post.

While he has returned and is up to his old ways I do believe Oro & Sasuke, Madara & Kages, Naruto & Tobi will all converge where he will probably attempt to pull some insano stunt along with an insanely long back and forth with Madara and Tobi revealed.

Thanks all - just to clarify - I have read the bit of the manga where Sasuke brings him back - so am aware of his return. Sorry I should have said this in my original post.

What I mean is - now that he is back... does he play a side show roll or is it likely he will be a major villain again - that was the purpose of my original post - getting into Kishi's head to think - does he go out in style or maintain a side-show roll.

I refer to my original statement.

i would think there is a reason to bring him back.
knowing Kishi, oro is going to go out with a bang and add a plot twist to the story.
im a big fan of oro as well, and hes pretty much the perfect villain.

I remember when his theme song would play and he'd show up, being this retardedly strong villain like Madara is now... and now he's just a pushover :/

I also wished he got powered up.

There is for sure something fishy about his return. He says he's not interested in this war, but I'm pretty sure he's interested in stopping Tobi's plan. Somebody like him would never accept to be controlled for eternity. All he wants is to become the most powerful shinobi.

I'd be decently please if he died a good guy to stop Tobi and/or Madara. I believe that would be a good way for him to go out.

Sasuke made Orochi live again...

I think its an awesome way to extend the manga... now Tobi can withdraw to find Kabuto... and the allied shinobi can re-group...
