Heh, sure, if she can do that when the Mist Ninja's plan unfoils. The Mist were to pretend to chase them all the way to the Leaf and then set off the seal so that the Sanbi would go loose and rampage inside her beloved village. There´s no way Kakashi at that stage could hold off the enemy and get Sarutobi from the village and Minato from his mission elsewhere.

Basically that wouldn´t work in the least.

Minato was on a mission at the time, and the Mist were tailing her. It's not easy to befriend a beast as well. Plus the moment she would arrive in Konoha, the mist ninja would undo the seal so their wasn't any time.

I actually didn't care about how she died... I was actually more curious about, unleashing a TB from distance. Like even Obito had to kidnap Kushina when he wanted to breack the seal surrounding Kurama. I don't think they had FTG technique, if they did it, Minato would be a fodder.
