I disagree but respect your opinion..
Disagree if you wish but the majority of the villagers perished and the village itself crushed so no she did not protect the village even with the amount she save those put together can't be considered as a great nation, if Nagato didn't revive them the leaf would no longer exist.

"The fellow countrymen of the Konoha make up each part of my body… those of the village believe in me, and I believe in them… That's what it means to be Hokage!"

^^^^^ She did her role. Its always been about the people not the physical village itself.

But this is nothing new.
-Under Hiruzen's reign died the most shinobi<< 2 world wars happened
- Minato's reign the village got devestated also (Kyuubi attack did destroy the village) just not that much of it.

^^^^^ But notice that unlike those 2... Tsunade was betrayed by someone who claims to "protect" the village.

So my question is Did Minato and Hiruzen protect the village?

@Bold, false, The leaf would still exist , as long as those stone faces exist. And as long the Hokage existed. And not really majority of the villagers did not perish. THe evidence of pain killing the majority does not exist, however, what does exist is that Katsuyu was supposed to protect all those who were remaining.

"great" nation.. Konoha is not a nation.

Pain would've brought them all back to life anyway. So why should she get credit for anything?

Why should Minato get credit for sacrificing himself, when all he needed was to call up Hiruzen, and combo seal the Kyuubi.

Why should Hiruzen get credit for anything, when all he did was allow internal terrorists like Danzo and etc to roam free, and do as they please.

If you agree they shouldn't get credit for anything, then i agree tsunade shouldn't get credit either. And no Nagato was not going to revive them either way.

Katsuya protected the dead bodies too, why do you think rinne tensei had bodies to return souls to. Evidence of this is that we see katsuya with dead kakashi after shinra tensei happened.

1. Minato was going to die anyway the Kyubi pierced his body.

2. The leaf village needed someone to handle the dark aspects of the village. Hiruzen couldn't do it so he let Danzo do it for him.

3. Yes, in the end Naruto would've changed Nagato anyway. So this rendered her efforts virtually useless.

Yup so Tsunade even helped with rinne tensei being effective hehe

Pain would've been so done, if Danzo hadn't betrayed konoha X_X. Tsunade + Naruto + Danzo holy shit.

1. Happened after he decided to go 1 man team.
2. No it did not, it didn't need it when Hashirama was there, it didn't need it with Tobirama. So yea. And also, Danzo tried to assassinate Hiruzen many times so yea. =] . Thats something called treason against the village.
3. Yea but did you know that? did you know Nagato even had rinne tensei? no.. no one did. Its like me saying what was the point of creating League of Nations.. when they were already going to form United Nations...

Katsuya didn't protect dead bodies o_O she didn't bother with dead bodies. If they were dead she moved on to other bodies in need of healing. If you're referring to when Pain flattened the village Katsuya only protected people who were alive from the shockwave. Why would she protect dead bodies?

Honey, im not asking you, im telling you what i saw in manga scans. If you let me have to go all the way for the scan i might start to be a bit irritated with lack of observation.

Edit: i see KH brought the scan. XD

That doesn't mean she protected a dead body. What do people do during a war after the threat is gone? They gather their dead. The grandscale Shinra Tensei wouldn't have done anything to dead bodies anyway. It's not like they would've been turned to dust, decapitated, or bisected. Rinnegan Tensei would've still worked.

True shiz man, danzo coulda just helped but meh his actions got him in the grave faster. I preferred him fight hebi sasuke at summit than tsuna though

Poor struggle attempt. You were wrong, get over it. Gather dead after war? It wasn't over pain was still there as tsunade went to him, you clearly don't know much about this. Stop.

I think building and other debris being pushed together and shoved in all directions would crush things so yes damage would have been done. We gave you proof in black and white.

She did her best, but her best wasn't enough.

What's the point in being able to heal others, if the threat is still out there and there's no one to deal with it?

Blame danzo, some might not agree with her strategy but it was for naruto to fight pain. She wen't defensive cuz she was the only one that could do that and it would have saved lives during the fight.

But yes she did do her best.

Did you forget about all of the people that were alive before Nagato did change his mind? Those same people were alive because of who? TSUNADE!

In actuality the reason those people were alive is due to Narutos arrival and intervening. Pain was about to kill Tsunade and surely continue his rampage throughout the destroyed village. It was Naruto returning that prevented Pain form that oppurtunity.

Thats not to say Tsunade did a bad job, she did the best she could do but there are not many people that could have done more. Off the top of my head it would be about 10 in the history of the Narutoverse excluding Hagoromo family. Not to mention that Yamato, Neji, Lee, Hiashi, and Gai were not present. Kurenai was pregnant, Asuma and Jiriaya just died, and Danzo was not participating. I could even be forgetting some other absent people. Tsunade was faced with some pretty harsh circumstances for a village destroying dizaster called Pain. If even half of the people I just mentioned were there we would probably be complimenting Tsunade on how she saved the village. No matter how people look at Tsunade she is a support character, not a frontline fighter. She just so happens to have some capability on the front lines unlike most support characters.

No, she just sat on her old ass and did nothing. Sure Katsuyu saved everyone and provided Naruto intel, using Tsunade's chakra and healing jutsu. But take Tsunade out, and the village would still be saved. This is sarcasm btw,
