Did the Sage of six paths have the power to kill the Juubi?

Did the Sage of 6 Paths have the power to kill the Juubi or not? Why would he take the risk of sealing the Juubi?

If the Sage couldn't kill the Juubi, only seal him, what chance does Naruto have when he doesn't even have the power to defeat Obito? Could it be possible that the Sage will come back to life when Kurama is nearly gone/dead?

Also, Naruto doesn't know any sealing jutsu, do you think maybe he's not the one that's going to defeat the Juubi? Maybe he'll TnJ Obito & Madara in sealing him back up?

Just a rough idea, might make an in depth theory after a few more chapters are out. I really see no point though as this is really far fetched.

Back to question, why did the Sage seal him and not kill him instead?

You can't kill Nature..The Juubi is a force of nature and the tailed beast a element of nature it's self so they can't die only be reborn or sealed within a vessel or object. Possibly the Sage had pity on the Juubi and thats why he decided to split it's chakra and create the tailed beast maybe the world would destroy its self if nature chakra wasn't present
