Did the plot save Madara ?

The biggest plot shield was definitely with Madara. The casual fans might wonder how that's possible, but you really need to take a step back and look at things from an outside view.

Madara was able to fodderize the five kages and pretty much everyone not named Naruto. Kishimoto however allowed Madara to run on a rampage by leaving a massive plot hole.

Itachi should have been the one to greet Madara when he was first resurrected. I highly doubt that Madara would have survived the Totsuka blitz to his face.

Kishimoto has never explained why Itachi just basically "checked out" and didn't exploit the weakened Kabuto to his advantage.

Madara should have been sealed by Itachi and he should have sent the shinobi alliance on vacation since I doubt that he would have needed any help soloing Madara.

no.. itachi had no clue that madara knew edo tensei contract seals when he made kabuto undo edo tensei while genjutsu.. he TRIED to wipe madara that way.. that only proves that even your "all mighty" itachi does not know everything. madara was alot steps ahead, that's why he lived. no plots..
