Do you think they give it up to prevent Sasuke from assasinating them in the future or old age or Sasuke himself causing another shinobi war by himself,since he the next so6p of Narutoverse?

They fear him ,since their last experience with Sasuke at the kage summit.Sasuke had unfinish duty with these gokage.Now Sasuke on God level,they know they will die if they stay in public eyes when Sasuke around,the best thing to do is resign and stay in the dark

Actually, in the Sasuke Sh1nden novel, when Sasuke started his road to redemption, he seems to have a good relationship with the previous Kages. At least i've read somewhere that Mei actually enjoyed Sasuke's company when he traveled through her lands.

No, because they all stayed as their respective Kages long after that fight. Most of the Kage's remained long into Kakashi's term as Hokage as seen in the movie. They just grew older and it was their time to step down.
