Did he really think that? Sasuke had to know that Itachi mastered his Sharingan at 8 and was in the Anbu at 10 years old and become a anbu captain at 13!!!

Sasuke was very wrong to think a Chidori could have killed Itachi that easily...

He waited a huge amount of time to kill Itachi and he learnt Chidori a few days ago which increased his confidence and after all hate overcame his general sense.

Sasuke's mind was clouded, after seeing itachi after so long he just wanted to kill him he didn't really think about getting demolished by him.
