Did Sasuke know Madara?

I just watched Naruto vs Sasuke in Part 1 and Sasuke said that the Final Valley was a perfect stage for their fight, as if he knew of or heard of Madara before, and plus he went to school and learned alot and is from the Uchiha clan but when he talked to 9-tails he said he never heard of Madara.?? I was just curious why that was..

I mean Madara helped founded the Leaf Village and was the Leader of The Uchiha, its hard to believe that Sasuke had never heard of him before.

but also when Itachi mentioned Madara to Sasuke, Sasuke had a flashback of the 9tails mentioning Madara to him, as if that was the only memory/info he ever knew of Madara... I know im taking this a bit far lol

Yeah, when he talked to the nine-tails he doesn't know madara at that time, he just started knowing madara when itachi mention him being alive but itachi doesn't know that. that madara was a fake one.

Everyone knows Madara. He was a world's legend. If Yahiko from a poor village have heard of Madara, then someone like Sasuke from Madara's own clan and village would also heard of him.
