He allowed himself to be killed. You can compare it to Itachi letting Sasuke kill him, sort of.

OT: In the end he chose not to avoid Chiyo's attack, so i guess feelings aside he would've won high-diff.
Edit: But by no means he went easy. The girls legitimately countered everything and pushed him into using his strongest jutsus.

Don't sell chiyo short she has skills at first I think the both went all out at it but during the match he let up a little chiyo even said he saw though her moves and choose not to evade

If you dont read the manga then i suggest you should.

While the chiyo/sakura combo was powerful, I would like to think that Sasori's feelings were definitely playing into his loss, especially after he saw his parents. His willingness to give them information shows that his feelings had an affect in my opinion.

Sasori went easy on them. Had he used IS Shower one more time instead of the giant shapes he would have easily won.

Sasori knew he could end up killing Chiyo, but he would die by Sakura anyway.
That's why I think he choose to let Chiyo live instead of killing her and then die.

Sasori was fixated on killing Sakura and chose not to avoid Chiyo's attack even though he could. To some extent he killed himself, that being said. He would probably have lost either way as he was out of tricks and tools, and Chiyo was still moving around pretty well. (All he had left was his own ruined body.)
