Did Rikkudo Sennin obtain the Rinnegan before or after the battle?

Did Rikudō Sennin (Sage of the SIx Paths) obtain the Rinnegan before or after his battle with the Jūbi?

Here is some posts that inspired me and whom I give due credit.

Did SO6P got the Rinnegan before or after he fought the Juubi?

Not saying it's a certainty but do you think maybe the sage subdued the Juubi through placing his will upon the beast through his eyes, like Madara taming the Kyubi. The Juubi may have had that eye as a reflection of the SO6P control over it.

I think that maybe he obtained his eyes after his fight with the Ten-Tails. Anyone have any theories or speculations about this?

No, he had it way before. He was born with it. The Sennin was able to defeat the 10-tails with the help of his Rinnegan. If you watch the episode when "Tobi" declares war on the 5 kages... The Episode name is called, "Declaration of War", you will see that The Rikudo Sennin had it before his battle with the ten-tails. Also, "Tobi" talks about how The Sennin created the Jubbi with the help of his Rinnegan and Izangani during his fight with Konan.

If you watch the episodes when Jiraya meets nagato and sees his rinnegan for the first time, he says that the Rikudo Sennin had it when he was born and also during his fight with Pain, the two toads and him discuss about it.

Maybe not when he was born but you can make an inference

he would have had them before. if he got them becasue of the 10 tails his Dojutsu would not have been able to be passed down as it was a power from the 10 tails.

This is exactly what I am saying. Tobi said the Sennin used his Rinnegan and threw it up and then it became the moon. How could he possibly have gotten it after his fight with the Jubbi?

After seeing those images from the manga, it shows he had the Rinnegan but doesn't really give you concrete proof he had it before because most of those events happened after his battle.

Sorry but I am looking for concrete proof that says, "He had the Rinnegan prior to his battle". Pictures are nice but sometimes we need to see the text to be certain as sometimes even pictures can be deceiving. Kinda like when you look at the manga and it shows Kurenai's eyes like the Rinnegan even though they are not.

I don't know but it doesn't bother me that much when i was watching anime i say kakashi chronicles in that minato says that sanin is less before the name of white fang.How can kishi ignore such a person i want to see him in action his abilities,jutsus etc.

Are you talking about the sage? .-.

the Sage discovered and mastered chakra because of his rinnegan. and he would never have been able to defeat the juubi without it.

I was responding to the gentleman who stated the SO6P split the Juubi before becoming the Jinchuriki with Izanagi. There is no concrete proof on when he got the eyes atleast not that I'm aware of at this time. But I personally believe he had it before his fight with the Juubi thats all.

I think that the Sage of the Six Paths obtained the Rinnegan after he sealed the Ten-Tails within himself. The Ten-Tails must have influenced the Sage's genes somehow but only his older son inherited the Ten-Tails genes since it's random which child inherits what gene. It's like how Naruto got his whiskers. Naruto's mother was pregnant while the Kyuubi was sealed in her so Naruto was born with whiskers. Ten-Tails gave the older son his eyes while Kyuubi gave Naruto whiskers.
