Did ninjas derived from samurai or vice versa?

Samurais are soldiers of militarity back then in the Edo Period of Japan. Because the wars, Shoguns hired ninjas to do filthy work (kill, betray etc). So from this I guess Samurais existed before Ninjas

well... i think samurai were the original warriors of japan.

not sure if kishi incorporated that into nv, however it was nice to see madara and hashirama including some samurai swordplay in their battle in the last episode.

Origins of the Ninja:

It is difficult to pin down the emergence of the first ninja, more properly called shinobi. After all, people around the world have always used spies and assassins.

Japanese folklore states that the ninja descended from a demon that was half man and half crow. However, it seems more likely that the ninja slowly evolved as an opposing force to their upper-class contemporaries, the samurai, in early feudal Japan.

So most Likely in the manga it would be samurai.
